TSGC has appointed committee chairs. Chairs are full members of TSGC. You can view the current TSGC organizational chart here. Volunteer opportunities are available. Please contact the committee chair and let them know you are interested in becoming involved.
Membership Committee
The TSGC Membership Committee is responsible for recruiting and maintaining membership and communicating relevant issues between the organization's Board and its members. Regular emails are sent out to the TSGC membership at large with information about genetic services in Texas, legislative news, educational opportunities and conferences, and current Texas job postings. The committee also maintains current contact information on members and individuals moving into and out of the state.

Professional Issues Commitee
The TSGC Professional Issues Committee (PIC) is responsible for issues pertaining to the profession of Genetic Counseling such as Annual Education Conferences, Mission and Vision statements of the TSGC and any local or national issues regarding our profession.

Genetic Services Committee
The TSGC Genetic Services Committee is responsible for issues pertaining to the provision of genetic services within the state of Texas. Relevant data such as birth defect rates, number and location of practicing genetic counselors and geneticists etc… is continuously collected and organized for use in future assessment projects.

Legislative Affairs Committee
The TSGC Legislative Affairs Committee is responsible for keeping abreast of legislative issues and bills that may impact the provision of genetic services and/or the profession of genetic counseling within the State of Texas. This committee strives to provide a voice for TSGC during legislative sessions, acts as a conduit for support from other healthcare providers on actions and bills, working closely with the Ad-hoc Committee on Licensure.

Licensure Committee
The TSGC Ad-hoc Committee on Licensure is responsible for drafting a suitable licensure bill. The committee chairs facilitate communication between TSGC, Texas Medical Association (TMA) and other interested parties and coordinate efforts of our membership surrounding ongoing licensure activities. In the past, this has included a lobby day at the capitol for membership as well as e-mail, fax and letter-writing campaigns. Grants Committee
The TSGC Grants Committee is composed of genetic counselors in various specialties from around the state who evaluate biannual grant proposals from the TSGC membership. They also review and select the best abstract awardee during the annual TSGC AEC.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee
Recognizing that minority groups are underrepresented in the genetic counseling workforce, both nationally and statewide, the TSGC DEI committee seeks to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the Texas genetic counseling community in measurable ways.
