Tune in to a panel of Texas-based genetic counselors to learn about the profession of genetic counseling, job opportunities available to genetic counselors, and how to become a genetic counselor. Q&A with panel at the end of the presentation. The panel consists of genetic counselors in multiple practice areas as well as representation from each of the three Texas-based genetic counseling programs.

Join the Texas Society of Genetic Counselors for a Webinar about the genetic counseling profession!
Genetic counselors are professionals who have specialized education in genetics and counseling to provide personalized help patients may need as they make decisions about their genetic health. Today, there are more than 5,000 certified genetic counselors.
Genetic counselors have advanced training in medical genetics and counseling to interpret genetic test results, and to guide and support patients seeking more information about such things as:
How inherited diseases and conditions might affect them or their families.
How family and medical histories may impact the chance of disease occurrence or recurrence.
Which genetic tests may or may not be right for them, and what those tests may or may not tell.
How to make the most informed choices about healthcare conditions.
Hear about the profession, job opportunities available to genetic counselors, and how to become a genetic counselor. A panel of genetic counselors will answer your questions during a Q&A portion.

Genetic Counselor CEUs: The National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) has authorized Texas Department of State Health Services to offer up to 0.7 CEUs or 7 Category 1 contact hours for the activity Texas Genetics Conference – Warp Speed Genetics: From Bench to Bedside. The American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) will accept CEUs earned at this program for the purposes of genetic counselor certification and recertification.

Genetic Counselor Awareness Day 2021
Genetic Counselor Awareness Day is dedicated to empowering genetic counselors to help raise awareness and interest about genetic counselors in your communities and institutions, and to help consumers understand the important and supportive role genetic counselors can play as part of their healthcare team.
For the fifth annual Genetic Counseling Awareness Day (GCAD), we are hosting two Texas-wide Instagram activities to help bring awareness to genetic counseling and genetic counselors in Texas! As a bonus, Invitae has generously donated $500 worth of prize money that you have a chance to win!
