TSGC Membership
There are five categories of membership:
Full
Associate
Student
Prospective Student
Emeritus
Please read our membership guidelines below, as described in our bylaws, to determine your appropriate membership status. There are many benefits to joining TSGC. Members have access to the members-only site which features a member directory, job board, grant award opportunities, licensure resources, and more. Members also receive email distributions with the latest TSGC happenings and other relevant updates.
Fiscal/Calendar Year Membership Policy: TSGC memberships are based on the calendar year/TSGC’s fiscal year, January 1-December 31. Dues are paid for the current fiscal year and are not prorated.
New TSGC Members

Eligibility will be reviewed by the Membership Committee, and you will be receive a registration link upon approval.
Renewing TSGC Members
If you are current or former TSGC member, please use the link below to log in and view your membership status or renew your membership. If you initially signed up for a TSGC membership prior to 2021, please use the “Join TSGC” link above to create a new account, as we have since converted to a new membership management platform.
Membership Categories
Section 1.2. Full Membership.
Full membership shall be extended to: (i) any person who holds a Master’s or Ph.D. degree in human genetics from a program established for the training of genetic counselors and/or genetic associates, or (ii) any person who has a Master’s or Ph.D. degree in a related field such as nursing, social work or public health and has had a broad range of clinical genetics training and whose primary responsibility for at least three years prior to the date of such person’s application has been genetic counseling, or (iii) is certified in genetic counseling by the American Board of Medical Genetics and/or the American Board of Genetic Counseling, or (iv) for a period of two years from the date these Bylaws are adopted, any person who holds only a baccalaureate degree in any field and who otherwise satisfies the criteria enumerated in section 1.2 (ii). Full members may attend all meetings of members, vote, hold office, and serve on the Board of Directors and committees. Full members must live or work in the state of Texas.
Section 1.3. Associate Membership.
Associate membership shall be extended to all applicants who are healthcare professionals, and to all applicants whose interests focus on genetic counseling and who are not eligible for full membership or student membership. Associate members have all privileges of full members except they may not vote, or serve on the Board of Directors, or as Chair of a committee.
Section 1.4. Student Membership.
Student membership shall be extended to students enrolled in a graduate degree genetic counseling program or track in Texas. Student members shall have all the privileges of associate membership.
Section 1.5. Prospective Student Membership.
Prospective student membership shall be extended to all individuals who are interested in pursuing a future career in genetic counseling. Prospective genetic counselors shall have all the privileges of associate membership with the exception that they may not have access to the members only area of the website.
Section 1.6. Emeritus Membership.
Emeritus membership shall be extended to all full member applicants who have retired and have been members in good standing of the TSGC for a minimum of 10 years. Emeritus members shall receive the minutes of the annual TSGC membership meeting, but are not voting members. Emeritus members may serve on standing or ad hoc committees.
