Genetic Counselor Awareness Day is dedicated to empowering genetic counselors to help raise awareness and interest about genetic counselors in your communities and institutions, and to help consumers understand the important and supportive role genetic counselors can play as part of their healthcare team.

For the fifth annual Genetic Counseling Awareness Day (GCAD), we are hosting two Texas-wide Instagram activities to help bring awareness to genetic counseling and genetic counselors in Texas! As a bonus, Invitae has generously donated $500 worth of prize money that you have a chance to win!

To participate in both activities, you need to:

1. Be a member of TSGC in good standing. You can join TSGC or renew your membership here: https://www.tsgc.org/membership

2. Have an Instagram account

3. Follow TSGC on Instagram @TexasGCs. To follow an account on Instagram:

   1. Open Instagram

   2. Click on the magnifying glass on the bottom

   3. Search for the Instagram account name “texasgcs”

   4. Hit the “FOLLOW” blue bar at the top

Activity #1: Instagram Giveaway

This activity is meant to increase awareness of genetic counseling to our membership’s non-GC followers. TSGC will post a series of images on Thursday, November 4th. To be entered to win one of five (5) $50* prizes, you must:

1. Like the post

2. Tag someone who is not a GC in the comments inviting them to check out the information

3. Share the post on your Instagram Story with @TexasGCs tagged

Activity #2: Instagram Trivia

This activity is meant to test your knowledge of all things genetic counseling! Ten (10) trivia questions will be posted to TSGC’s Instagram feed every hour starting at 9:30am CST.

Win $25* if you post the first correct answer!

*Winners will receive a message from @TexasGCs’s Instagram account to collect their Venmo account information and email for prize distribution
